This International Women's Day , I want to say something every woman deserves to hear: What you're feeling is real. You are not making it up. And you deserve answers.

As a Naturopathic Doctor in Toronto who has spent years sitting with women who've been dismissed and undertreated, I know this isn't just a feeling.

If you've ever left a doctor's appointment more confused than when you walked in, if your bloodwork came back "normal" while you feel anything but, or you walked out with a prescription when what you really wanted was someone to dig deeper — this is for you.

You are not alone. And you are not imagining things .

## Women are Being Dismissed and The Research Backs It Up.

Women's health concerns have been minimized, misattributed, and outright dismissed for decades. Research shows that women seeking care for hormonal symptoms are frequently told to "just relax," “lose weight”, or that “it's just stress ”. Over half of those women have considered giving up on seeking care altogether because they felt so chronically unheard.

One study found that women presenting to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain wait nearly 33% longer than men with the same symptoms. The same pain. A longer wait.

And here in Canada, women with endometriosis wait an average of 5.4 years from the onset of symptoms to a diagnosis. Years of painful periods, missed work, and being told it's normal. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I can tell you: that is not okay.

## The Symptoms That Keep Getting Brushed Off

I have women coming into my office daily who are exhausted but told their thyroid is fine, anxious but told it's just stress, struggling with their weight but told their labs are normal. Women who can't sleep, who have periods so painful they miss work, who haven't felt like themselves since having a baby, or who suspect they're in perimenopause but have been told they're too young to worry about it.

These are not small complaints. Your symptoms are your body's signals, and nobody knows your body better than you do.

## What Better Hormone Care Actually Looks Like

Hormones are deeply interconnected.

Estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, thyroid, insulin — pulling on one thread affects all the others. Perimenopause can start in your late 30s. Postpartum hormone shifts can last well beyond the first few months. Painful periods are not something you simply have to accept.

Better hormone care for women starts with being believed. It means a provider who listens to you, asks the right questions, and connects the dots between your symptoms, your cycle, your stress, your sleep, and your history.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, this is exactly the kind of care women’s hormonal health care I provide at Body Co Toronto. I have the time to sit with you, dig into what's really going on, and build a plan that is truly specific to you, not a generic one-size-fits-all approach.

## This IWD, Advocate For Yourself

This International Women's Day, I want you to remember something: you are allowed to take up space in your own healthcare. You are allowed to ask more questions, push for more answers, and walk away from appointments that leave you feeling invisible. Trusting yourself is not being difficult. It is being your own best advocate.

Women's health is not a luxury. It is not dramatic. It is not "just stress." It is worthy of time, attention, and real answers. And you deserve a provider who believes that just as fiercely as you do.

So if something feels off, trust that. Your body is speaking. And if you're ready for someone to actually listen, I'm here. You don’t have to figure this out alone. Book a visit or a free discovery call at Body Co and let's get you some real answers together.
